The top view shows the central opening, surrounding hole pattern and perimeter cutouts. Machining marks remain visible across the face.

Connect Two Interfaces with One Clear Drawing
For an adapter plate, identify both mating interfaces and use clear datum references for the hole patterns. Where a plate supports equipment or fixture components, show the mounting orientation and any clearance restrictions that affect the design.
Specify the Features That Control Fit
Highlight hole locations, bore sizes, plate thickness and any flatness or parallelism requirements that affect assembly. If you need a dimensional report for selected features, identify them during quotation so the inspection scope can be agreed.

Can the plate have a custom hole pattern?
Yes. Provide a drawing that defines the hole positions, sizes and thread details, together with the datum references used to locate them.
How do I specify flatness or parallelism?
State the required tolerance and the surfaces it applies to on the drawing. These requirements are reviewed with the material, plate size and thickness; no single tolerance applies to every plate.
Can I request an adapter between two existing assemblies?
Send the mating-interface drawings or a complete adapter-plate drawing. Identify the critical mounting points and any clearance requirements for review.
What should I send for a repeat-order quotation?
Include the part number, current drawing revision, quantity and any changes to material, finish or inspection requirements.

Mounting and Workholding Adapter Plate Applications
An adapter plate connects interfaces with different mounting patterns. For equipment mounting, identify both mating parts, the mounting orientation and the clearance required around fasteners and adjacent components.
Locating and Clearance Features
For a workholding adapter plate, show how the plate locates against the fixture or machine interface. Clearly distinguish locating features from clearance holes and identify the datum surfaces used to control the hole pattern. Clamping forces and structural suitability should be established in the design before machining.
